BOWSPRING

What is Bowspring?

Bowspring is a revolutionary postural practice that focuses on:

Posture, Movement, Breathing: Body

Will / Determination, focus: Mind

Responsibility, full attention, compassion: Heart

It is a postural template that can be applied universally to any attitude of yoga, movement or any functional attitude for optimal performance. The Bowspring alignment was adapted for people of all ages. This powerful postural pattern makes the most common daily positions to be laid or laid, aesthetic and heavy positions in positions of light, full of dynamism and fluidity in life.

Bowspring is an ergonomic posture that focuses on 10 key areas of your body. The algorithm is responsible for activating all the key areas in a harmonic movement. It helps create a balanced tone throughout the body, in the front and back of your body. Unlike the traditional “straight” postural alignment model, Bowspring encourages the natural state of the body: primitive, wavy or curvilinear.

Instead of a static position in which the connective tissue is formed at rest, the Bowspring alignment places the connective tissue (myofascience) to participate evenly in all the sides of the body in front and in the back, and in both sides, With fluid movements with the minimum amount of strength.

This dynamic alignment is also a revolution outside of our comfortable sedentary lifestyle, we spend a lot of time sitting in a relaxed position at work on our desks, watching a screen.

With the current lifestyle we have come out of tune with our natural dynamic stance. Our modern misaligned form desensitizes us and reduces our ability to feel and think clearly. The Bowspring system is a new revolutionary movement that makes us go back to incorporate a curved natural posture.

The Bowspring works smoothly, subtly and deeply with specific actions, achieving a delicious synergy between the 10 main areas of our body. The open forms that generate action on these 10 main areas clean and heal at all levels. These 10 areas are organized into 5 subsystems:

Heart (chest thoracic).

Wings (bones, arms and hands)

Roots (butterflies, legs and legs)

Waist or trunk (abdomen and lower back)

Crown (neck and head).

Each part is structural and is interconnected in our body through a single fascial sheath that surrounds the set generating and maintaining the shape. If a part does not activate well, the set can not work optimally. All parties are interdependent.

Bowspring causes elegant fluency, curved waves, greater confidence and self-awareness of the somatic and psycho-emotional patterns. Therefore, it helps us to become more aware of our patterns both on the exterior and in the physical plane (on the default attitude we are accustomed to) and on the internal level.

The philosophical vision of Bowspring is based on three main pillars:

Responsibility: remembering that each person is responsible for their thoughts and actions, as well as the acceptance of how is physical body.

Mindfulness: learning to have a state of contemplation, while performing the dynamic practice leaving the thoughts in a state of latency, to perceive all the sensations of the practice.

Compassion: be more considerate and compassionate with yourself and your community, also with the suffering suffered by many living beings in your environment and in the world.

Origin and emergency of Bowspring

Desi Springer had studied yoga intensely for 14 years – 6 years at Bikram Yoga and 8 years at Anusara yoga in 2012, he applied his ideas of curved alignment to a new sequence of curved positions called Roots.

John Friend built anusara yoga in a successful yoga system worldwide on the effectiveness of its universal alignment principles over a period of 15 years from 1997. John is considered one of the most influential early yoga yoga beginnings of the Yoga teachers XXI. He constantly explores the function of the energy potential of the human body and has helped many people to recognize their inner strength doing yoga. When John Friend realized that the Bowspring model of Desi Springer contradicted his Anusara alignment system in many ways. Nevertheless, after applying the ideas of alignment of Desi to its chronic injury to the hip, the painful problem of the hypothesis of John began to clarify itself.

John investigated and practiced Desi’s lineup ideas for 8 months before embracing his Bowspring concept in early 2013. Since then, they continue to teach workshops and seminars around the world, to expand Your knowledge, your wisdom and Love for this new postural alignment. You can find more information, if you want globalbowspring.

In 2015, JoanRamon Prats discovered Bowspring, through his creators Desi Springer and John Friend, a workshop in Mallorca and since then he also started to question everything learned, in yoga alignments, I heard an internal revolution, began the changes in his physical Body and changes from the heart, since then until now they have followed in various intensive and seminars for Spain, Europe and United States.

What are the main difficulties that we can expect when we begin the practice of Bowspring?

Although the system is designed to be easily understood by students of any level, Sridaiva is not easy to practice at the beginning.

What are the main difficulties we can expect when we began the practice of Bowspring?

Although the system is designed to be easily understood by students of any level, Sridaiva is not easy to practice at the beginning.

The main difficulties we can expect at the beginning of the practice are:

1.    The Bowspring offers an energetic opening.
The practice of the Bowspring of Sridaiva can provide an emotional cleansing can make you clean old psycho-somatic patterns that are stored in the memory cell. Sridaiva dynamic postural Forms address postural patterns unaware of protection, pain reduction and decrease of the sensory capacity. Areas of the body that are normally closed include 5 specific areas: the lower part (pelvic floor), the adbomen (solar plexus), armpits (heart), under the Chin (throat), under the palate (the mouth). The reprogramming of these areas may experience it somatically accompanied by strange and emotionally uncomfortable sensations.

2.    It takes practice to learn the Bowspring and create the connection body-mind – heart in specific parts of the body such as the toes of the feet and hands. The Bowspring system requires a tone mindful of all the muscles in the back of the body including the ascending activation of the buttocks which, at first, very few students can perform consistently.

3.    The alignment of the Bowspring does not follow the standard model of optimum posture.  The key instructions of alignment in Sridaiva are very different and frequently opposite to what is usually taught in other schools of modern postural yoga, dance classical or in other systems of postural alignment. Sridaiva challenges the student’s mind to be open to try something alternative and avant-garde in his body with the promise of a higher vibrational capacity and successful progress.
